NY Fashion Week Round-Up

New York Fashion Week SS 15 just wrapped on the 11th, but before I start detailing my favorite designers from this year’s shows, it must be said that the runways presented some note-worthy trends and silhouettes and of course the street-style was on a maximum level of high-fashion. Trends that stood out to me are modern-sleek suits (Altuzarra, Jason Wu & Thom Browne), gingham and stripes (Brandon Sun, Tommy Hilfiger & Yigal Azrouel) and of course, prints(duh, it’s spring!). These prints, however, are very new; I saw an array of graphic floral, geometric, abstract, and nature inspired patterns, some in unlikely colors that just totally work (Peter Som, DKNY, Cynthia Rowley, & Ohne Titel).

Now, on to the quaint stuff. Of course there were many great presentations, but these are my top 3 from the rtw collections:

Azede Jean-Pierre – This collection, as with most of her designs, kept a minimalistic undertone with perfectly put shock-and-awe accents. I really love the slip dresses, especially the white draped v-neck look that exposed a delicate black, bug embroidered bra underneath. AJP’s double slit shorts were sexy, yet laid back and the same can be said for her meticulous knit dresses and matching sets. She delivered a print that resembled the veins on a leaf that I thought was pretty genius. From start to end, AJP’s ss’15 collection was amazing!

William Okpo – Upon reading the story behind this label, the more my intrigue with them grew. With their ss15 collection, the Okpo sisters turned up the whimsy, choosing mainly pastel colors, some loose fitting styles and a variety of flirty silhouettes. A must see collection for the playful and quirky, which is kind of cool seeing that many London Fashion Week shows, which kicked off on the 12th, are of the same caliber. There’s also a lot of yellow in this collection which is probably one biased reason to why I love it so much.

Altuzarra – This designer has continuously  moved up on my favorties list in the last two years. With his Target collaboration debuting on September 14th and Rihanna sitting front row in a drool worthy look from his collection, it doesn’t seem as though Joseph Altuzarra plans to stop winning me over. His ss15 show was another start to finish knock-out! His looks ranged from sexy to classy, from sophisticated to edgy. All while maintaining cohesiveness.  The key theme for his collection: confident femininity.
